So you've created your first table now how do you show it to the world, well your web sites users anyway.
Like a lot of Joomla! components the content is displayed by a direct menu link.
So the first thing to do after creating and publishing your EasyTable is to create a menu that links to your table. The first step is to open the Menu you want the Table to show up in. You could select Menu Manager but it's quicker to just select the Menu directly as shown below (in this example we're adding the table to "Main Menu").
Once we're in the Menu Manager we simply create the new menu item by clicking on the "New" button in the Menu Manager Toolbar as shown below.
When creating a menu item in Joomla you must specify the type of content you're linking to, with EasyTable installed you will see a new menu group called, appropriately EasyTable.
Click on the EasyTable menu group will reveal to two EasyTable menu types available.
As you can see there are two EasyTable Menu types, the table layout view and the list of table view.
As you can see from the two tooltips EasyTable lets you show a list of all published tables or a specific table.
The EasyTable Layout is like most other menu items in Joomla and has the standard Title field. This the first step that you will need to complete. As with other Joomla menus you can also specify where in the menu heirarchy the menu item will appear.
Using the EasyTable Layout menu type you can display a table and set a variety of preferences. As with Joomla! standards if you specify preference settings in the menu they will over-ride the global preferences for EasyTable.
Similarly if you have set specific preference for a table they will over-ride both the global and menu preferences.
The next step is to select the table that will be displayed, you do this by selecting a table from the list of published tables in "Parameters (Basic)" block on the right side of the screen. It will look something like this one below, in which we're about to select the "US Population by Geographic Region & Flag" table.
Using the "Parameters (Component)" block you can set preferences that control how the table will be displayed by EasyTable. Preferences are covered in more detail in EasyTable Editor (Part 4).
EasyTable List Layout
The EasyTable List Layout is like most other menu items in Joomla and has the standard Title field. This the first step that you will need to complete. As with other Joomla menus you can also specify where in the menu heirarchy the menu item will appear.
The list layout shows you a list of all published tables, as you can see on the reference website.
Table lists have a basic parameter that lets you sort this list by the tables name, creation date or modification date. The default setting is by Name in Ascending order, all sort types can be done in either ascending or descending order.
