EasyTable Pro is derived from our popular EasyTable for J! component and in most core features is very similar — to get an understanding of the components we recommend that you download EasyTable for J! and .

The current release version 1.0.0 is available now to subscribers and is the final release in 1.0.0 series (unless a serious bug or security issue is identified of course).

We will be updating the 1.0 documentation over the coming days to match the final feature set. This public forum thread has the current development schedule.

As always we would encourage you to provide feedback about the direction we're taking with EasyTable Pro in the forums. We appreciate our active Support Subscribers so please give us feedback on the Pro version of the component in the Subscriber Forum.

What's in EasyTable Pro?

The current release of EasyTable Pro is feature complete and includes the following:

• External tables (ie. database tables that Joomla has access to) can now be linked to EasyTable Pro.
• Settings to control access by Managers and Administrators are now implemented in a new Settings screen.
• Settings to tweak the way EasyTable Pro handles imported files are now available to the Super Administrator.
• Table records can be edited, deleted and created from the administration screens.
• New records can be appended to the table during an upload (instead of just replacing the existing records)
• User ID or Username can be used to filter records in a table.
• Extensive (and useful) Tooltips have been added to all admin screens.
• You can now delete fields from the table structure.
• You can now add fields to the table structure.
• You can create a menu link directly to a specific record in your table
• Detail/record views now display links to the Previous & Next Record.
  • There is a preference to hide/show the Next/Prev record link.
  • This is a preliminary implementation that will be improved in future updates.
• Table columns now support a DATE type
• Table columns now support a NUMBER type
• Field types map to the storage type used in MySQL.
• Field alias' can now be edited.
• Table columns can now be excluded from EasyTable searches.
• Tables can now be searched by Joomla's built-in search function
• The field options are implemented for URL masking, number and date formatting and token replacement (read more).
• Breadcrumbs now show the Table name as the last element.
• EasyTable for J! and EasyTable Pro support both partial and complete uninstall (see below).
• HTML structural changes and CSS name & class labels added for better layout control
• TAB or CSV files can now be imported.
• Joomla 1.5 Access control is implemented on a per Table basis.

The order of feature additions has been based on a poll in the users forum, comments in the various forum threads and the number of emails complaining about the lack of a given feature in the free (as in beer) version of the component. If you like to see one of the features appear in the EasyTable Pro release versions prior to next please comment in the Subscriber Forum to help us weigh the demand for each feature on the EasyTable Pro list.

How do I get the current release EasyTable Pro?

The current release versions of EasyTable or EasyTable Pro are available from the Subscribers forum, which also provides direct support for the EasyTable products. EasyTable Pro versions can be found in this thread.

To access the Subscribers forum you must have a current support subscription ( see the FAQ below ).

Upgrading

DO NOT UNINSTALL EASYTABLE FOR J!

Do not uninstall the free version before upgrading to 1.0.1 (or later) as it will delete all of your EasyTable tables and settings.

If you have EasyTable installed and you want to install EasyTable Pro on the same website you should install EasyTable 1.0.1 (or later) first. After installing check the EasyTable Manager Settings and make sure the Uninstall Type is set to Partial then click Save.

Once the 1.0.1 (or later) update is installed then you can install the EasyTable Pro - it will use the same tables and not interfere with your existing EasyTable installation. (Personally we recommend that you do uninstall it as we've had a few embarrassing cases of people yelling at us only to find out they were looking that free version rather than EasyTable Pro... )

Menus

Due to the way Joomla menu's work you will need to re-create any menu links to EasyTables selecting the equivalent EasyTable Pro version. Once you've migrated to the EasyTable Pro equivalent you can uninstall the free version of EasyTable - remember do not uninstall the free version before upgrading to 1.0.1 as it will delete all of your EasyTable tables and settings.

Changes Summary

EasyTable Pro release version 1.0.0FC2 is a feature superset of EasyTable for J! (the free version of our component). The EasyTable Pro FC2 is feature complete when compared to the planned feature set for EasyTable Pro. (There are no known issues with EasyTable Pro FC1).
